Party at the NickleCade!

We celebrated Uncle Jeffrey's birthday today at the nickle-cade. We didn't get pictures of Jeffrey but I did get one of Carter with Max, who looks a lot like Jeffrey. :-) (bottom right)

The picture on the left is Carter's awesome outfit he carefully picked out today. Turns out his cousin Colin, who lives in Alaska, also thought he should where a tie today. Is that how we honor Uncle Jeffrey? 

And top right is a picture of Carter with Noah playing air hockey...sort of.

It was a pretty fun night and a very good reason to have a party.

Game On!

I came home from work on Monday night and found this sign as I walked in the front door: "This is your weapon, game on." I didn't even have a chance to put my bags down before Carter, from the top of the stairs, said "Reach for the stars! " and shot me with a nerf dart. My little family then had a ton of fun playing a few rounds of hide and seek with nerf guns. It was a blast! It may have been 11pm before the kids got to bed, but oh well!

Easter

Here are pictures of our cute kids on Easter morning.

In Sunday school today our bishop taught the lesson and posed the question: what would it mean, what would be different in your life, if you knew the resurrection and the atonement were real? 

Silly question, I thought. I already believe those things to be real. But, there is a difference to "believing" and "believing in." And that was his point. Do I simply believe in Christ, or do I believe Christ? 

I believe Him. I kniw his promises will be kept. That knowledge should have a powerful influence on how I act and how I respond to the number of challenges I face daily. And because this is so personal to me, I'll just leave it at that.

Easter Eve

On the night before Easter, all through the house, moving boxes sat unpacked, waiting on the honey-do list I've made for my spouse.

And that's as far as my rhyming goes for tonight. :-)

Yesterday was my birthday. My mom worked long and hard on a beautiful and delicious cake for me, covered in things that I love-chocolate covered strawberries and Cadbury milk chocolate eggs...yummy! ! ! 

Carter worked hard on his Easter eggs, dipping each egg in every color until I finally had to say we were done.

Avy watched from her high chair feeding herself peachers and making a real mess.

And Nate worked hard on putting together Carter's bed, now it's just noon and dad whose mattress on the floor!
:-) We are getting there!

We Are In!

We finally are living in the home we bought back in February! Spent our first night here on Saturday (March 23)-I think we like it here!

Preparing him for the Priesthood

Today's sunday school lesson was on the priesthood, and one question particularly 'pricked' my heart:

How can boys and young men prepare to receive the Aaronic Priesthood?

Great question, and one I have wondered so many times before, what do Nate and I need to be doing in our home to prepare Carter for this important opportunity that waits for him?

Here are some answers given by other members in the class:

Teach them to serve others
Take your 9, 10, &11 year old boys to help serve others-moving, cleaning, yard work, etc. as needed.
Take him to priesthood sessions before he is 12.
Be an example at home of what a priesthood holder is (for Nate)

Some answers are common sense but I was glad to be taught today that I should be teaching Carter to serve and that this is a main responsibility of a priesthood holder.
